In the beginning.....
Having worked in theatre for many years and now living in a beautiful village with a real sense of community, one thing I noticed was missing: LIVE COMEDY. I knew first hand the magic that happens when people gather together to share a laugh. I’d felt it on stage and seen it in the audience - the pure joy of connection through comedy and I wanted to bring that magic home.
Out of this idea, Rural Roars was born. It came from a desire to create something special in local communities - to prove you don’t need to travel to a big city to experience amazing comedy.

Some of the best comedians are eager to play in unique spaces and reach audiences who might not normally get the chance to see live stand-up.

For me, it’s more than just putting on a show. It’s about building a space where people can come together, have a laugh, and feel part of something. Rural Roars is about celebrating comedy in the heart of the countryside — bringing the fabulous straight to your doorstep.

Our Dream
Our very first evening was held in April this year at the Wonersh Memorial Hall. It was a complete sell out and apparently, according to attendees, an “absolute triumph”. Neighbours and friends coming together to enjoy a night of first-rate comedy. Our dream had come true! After all, there’s nothing more satisfying to me than to hear a large room of people all laughing together.
